Last week, Sports Illustrated/Golf.com released its annual anonymous player poll. Among the questions: Who is the fastest player on Tour? Who is the slowest player on Tour?
The fastest is a tie between Matt Every and the player polled, as 18 percent of the 50 polled players chose Every and 18 percent picked themselves.
The rest: Matt Jones, 14 percent; Bill Haas, 8 percent; Colt Knost, 6 percent; Dustin Johnson, 4 percent; other, 18 percent; no comment, 14 percent.
As for the slowest, the popular pick is Ben Crane, at 21 percent.
“Ben Crane. Love you, man, sorry!” said one player.
Kevin Na was second at 17 percent and Jason Day third at 11 percent. Jordan Spieth (8 percent) and Andrew Loupe (4 percent) were also named. Nineteen percent of the voters said someone else and 20 percent had no comment.
More specifically on Day, the poll asked players in the Australian played too slowly, and 42 percent said yes, 26 percent said no, and 32 percent had no comment.
“No. He’s in the last group a lot, and the last group is always slower,” said one player.
Said another: “The last group gets to do whatever they want.”
