If at first you don’t succeed, tweet #Letmecaddieforyou at Sergio Garcia 205 more times.
That strategy finally paid off for U.K. resident Mark Johnson, who began a guerrilla Twitter campaign in July hoping to caddie for his favorite golfer.
Johnson went after his dream with a flood of creative and funny tweets, undeterred by the lack of response from the current world No. 15-ranked player. Then, on Day 206, contact. A verbal agreement. Success.
Some pros may have been a little weary of meeting such an enthusiastic stranger, but Garcia tweeted he’ll let Johnson haul the bag for the Wednesday Pro-am at the British Masters in September. Pretty sweet move on his part and a lesson for us all on dreams and the following of them, one hashtag at a time.
